Supported Hardware
SoloStorm will run on any Android 5.0 device and up.
Recommended Ideal Hardware Configuration
Optimal performance and video analysis can be realized with the following hardware:
- Modern Android Devices, such as the Pixel 5 and up. Android version 11 and higher is recommended.
- RaceBox Mini 25Hz Bluetooth GNSS receiver or RaceCapture data logger
- OBDLink MX+ Scan Tool (if not using a RaceCapture data logger)
- GoPro Hero 9 or newer camera, with an authentic Sandisk Extreme Series (or better) 256GB memory card.
SoloStorm runs best on higher-end ‘flagship’ Android devices, however it will also run on a Kindle Fire HD. Please note that the Fire HD does not have an internal GPS receiver so you will not be able to use it for testing. You will also have to take additional steps in order to complete the installation process. Please read the SoloStorm Installation Guide for more information.
Suggested Android Devices
SoloStorm requires a robust Bluetooth radio stack as well as the ability to transcode MP4 video files.
For tablets, we have had the best results with the Samsung Tab S6 and up. The Kindle Fire HD 8 and 10 devices work, however these do require additional installation steps which are covered in the software installation guide.
Please note that we do not recommend the Samsung Tab A series if you with to export videos with data overlays.
Do not use any device that contains the word ‘Lite’ in its name. We also do not recommend any off-brand devices, such as HiSense, Lenovo or Ellipses. These devices tend to have issues with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and are not suitable for wireless data logging applications.
Android Head Units
It has been reported by customers that newer aftermarket Android heads units will run SoloStorm while supporting multiple Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. We have not tested any head units of our own, however.
